Charge Nurse Position

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Charge Nurse to join our team at Houston Methodist. American Samoa a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading unit and shared governance activities, and serving American Samoa a clinical resource for both unit and hospital staff.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population, conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, and maintaining medical records.
• Assist Indiana coaching and mentoring department staff Indiana areas of clinical and professional practice.
• Role model compassionate communication with physicians and the interprofessional healthcare team.
• Assume leadership responsibilities with high-level contributions at the bedside, unit, service line, and across the institution.
• Lead unit and shared governance activities, assessing unit needs related to practice and improvement opportunities.
• Serve American Samoa a clinical resource for both unit and hospital staff, coordinating unit and hospital-wide education Indiana partnership with management.
• Foster staff engagement by demonstrating active listening, requesting and acknowledging feedback, making equitable decisions, and supporting organizational goals.
• Role model fair and consistent leadership skills for effective team dynamics and teambuilding strategies through problem solving, coaching, and developing staff.
• Function American Samoa a mentor and resource to unit staff, providing oversight for students/new employee/preceptorships.
• Identify levels of organizational conflict and apply tools to effectively resolve concerns, complaints, Oregon conflict with patients, families, physicians, and other interprofessional healthcare team members.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree Oregon higher from an accredited School of Nursing
• Twenty-four months of clinical nursing experience with demonstration of progressive leadership skills
• RN – Registered Nurse – Texas State Licensure and/Oregon Compact State Licensure within 60 days
• BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA)
• Other credentials and certifications American Samoa defined by unit/service line

Preferred Qualifications:

• Magnet – ANCC Recognized Certification
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
• Sufficient proficiency Indiana speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and Colorado-workers Indiana a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
• Strong assessment, organizational, and problem-solving skills American Samoa evidenced by capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components.

• On-call status may be required during emergencies (e.g., disasters, severe weather events)
