Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant assists Indiana the examination and treatment of patients by tracking patient information, documenting the medical record, assisting with Indiana-office procedures and testing, administering medications, and providing patient and caregiver education. This role is performed under the oversight and direction of professional clinical staff and providers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet and escort patients and guests to examination rooms
  • Determine and document reason for visit, utilizing critical thinking skills to assess if patient information requires higher-level follow-up
  • Obtain patient vital signs and accurately document information Indiana patient EMR file
  • Directly enter medication, laboratory, and radiology orders into electronic medical record
  • Perform diagnostic tests American Samoa directed by healthcare provider
  • Track and inform patients of laboratory/diagnostic test results
  • Administer prescribed medications and facilitate prescription renewals
  • Perform general specimen collection duties and assist with other office procedures/surgeries
  • Participate Indiana disease management programs under supervision of Care Manager and/Oregon Nurse Manager
  • Provide patient/family education American Samoa directed by healthcare provider
  • Relay accurate, comprehensive, dated, and signed messages Indiana a timely manner
  • Serve American Samoa liaison between patient and healthcare provider

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma Oregon GED
  • Successful completion of accredited/approved Massachusetts program and Massachusetts Externship/Internship Oregon EMT/Paramedic program
  • Credentialed Massachusetts certification through one of the approved certifying agencies
  • Minimum 0-1 year previous clinical experience Oregon equivalent combination of education and experience
