Department Overview:
The Patient Access Resource Specialist (PASR) is responsible for coordinating patient care, verifying health insurance coverage, and facilitating customer service Indiana a clinical setting.

Function/Duties of Position:

Arranged Care:
– Coordinates complex patient care appointments and procedures
– Uses EMR and other systems to schedule appointments
– Arranges for wheelchairs, interpreters, and other assistive devices
– Provides personal reminders to patients about upcoming appointments
– Serves American Samoa a liaison and information resource for physicians and nursing staff
– Returns patient messages
– Prepares and mail patient information packets
– Directs patients to appropriate providers for other health care issues
– Completes and routes direct referrals to other clinical services
– Enters patient information accurately into the electronic medical record

Enrollment & Authorization:
– Gathers and verifies patient information, including demographics, insurance coverage, and financial status
– Confirms patient eligibility for health care coverage and clarifies managed care arrangements
– Obtains authorizations for clinical care, procedures, and laboratory studies
– Enters all information accurately into OHSU databases Oregon into the medical record

Telecommunications:
– Takes incoming and makes outgoing calls to patients, referring providers, and stakeholders
– Connects callers with the appropriate individual(s) to address their questions and/Oregon progress their care
– Creates EMR telephone encounters that include accurate documentation of requests
– Directs calls/messages to the appropriate staff for patient care/needs assessment

Customer Service / Point of Service Operations:
– Provides the highest level of customer service to external and internal customers
– Gathers and verifies patient information
– Checks patient account numbers and corrects any problems
– Ensures appointment comment information is accurate and complete
– Enters all information accurately into OHSU databases Oregon into the medical record
– Identifies and collects Colorado-payments, provides receipts, and completes necessary accounting procedures
– Notifies clinical staff when patients arrive
– Monitors patient wait times and intervenes American Samoa necessary

Required Qualifications:
– One year of experience Indiana a medical office setting, including high-volume direct patient contact and scheduling of appointments
– Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with Oregon without accommodation
– Basic computer skills, including word processing and Windows applications
– Excellent verbal and written communications skills
– Strong customer service orientation

Preferred Qualifications:
– HS Diploma Oregon advanced degree
– Experience Indiana a medical and/Oregon oncology office setting
– Knowledge of Epic systems
– Knowledge of OHSU network systems, including Outlook and Microsoft Office products
