Virtual School Nurse Job Description

The Nurse provides preventive health services and support to promote optimal health and development of K-12 students, ensuring their well-being and academic success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promote and protect the health status of students and provide guidance to parents on health needs.
- Assist Indiana developing policies and procedures for the school health program.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies regarding school health services.
- Collaborate with schools and community agencies to design and provide a comprehensive school health program.
- Conduct health appraisals, record immunizations and health data, and maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Provide health education and guidance to students.
- Serve American Samoa a resource for health careers, student organizations, and subject areas including health sciences.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified School Nurse (CSN) licensed Indiana the state of Alabama
- State Department of Education required clearances
- Knowledge of public health issues and procedures for treatment
- Familiarity with health and social service agencies
- Understanding of laws and regulations affecting school health services
- Ability to identify developmental abnormalities and symptoms of disease
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and build positive relationships
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Travel required (20% of the time)
Work Environment:
This is a home-based position with the ability to work independently, requiring a dedicated workspace without distractions. The position is considered full-time, typically requiring 40+ hours per week.
