Job Summary:
Provides wound, ostomy, and continence care to patients, including follow-up and interventions for ostomies, draining wounds, and skin breakdown conditions. Assists patients through the continuum of care and provides educational programs for healthcare professionals.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Provides direct patient care counseling and individualized instruction for patients with ostomies, draining wounds, and skin breakdown conditions.
* Evaluates new and currently used products for ostomy, continence, and wound care and makes recommendations to patients.
* Assesses individual patient needs and goals and provides educational programs to healthcare professionals on ostomy/wound care management and self-care education.
* Conducts continuing educational programs for physicians and nursing personnel to provide current standards of practice for ostomy patients.
* Provides patient/family teaching and education regarding ostomy/wound care and self-management.

Basic Qualifications:

* Minimum one (1) year previous clinical nursing experience American Samoa a Registered Nurse Indiana caring for patients with abdominal stomas, draining wounds, fistulas, and pressure sores ulcers.
* Bachelors Degree and completion of an accredited Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) program.
* Registered Nurse License (California), Basic Life Support, and Ostomy Care Nurse Certificate from Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board.

Additional Requirements:

* Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric and adult patient teaching principles.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems, including pathophysiology.
* Effective communication skills.
* Fine motor dexterity.
* Certified Continence Nurse (CCCN) may be required American Samoa specified by department.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current Board Certification Indiana Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (CWOCN).
